Weapon Proficiency and Additional Proficiency
Two default types
Every character has two Weapon Proficiencies. A weapon of one of those types gains +20% ATK in their hands. A weapon of another type still works, without that bonus.
The key to Potentials
A Calamity Weapon only activates its Potentials if its type is among the character's proficiencies, Additional Proficiency included.
A third type to unlock
Additional Proficiency adds one type, picked from four that are specific to the character. Only one is active at a time, and you can switch freely between the ones already unlocked.
- 1The character's two default proficiencies.
- 2The third slot: Additional Proficiency, empty until a type is activated.
- 3The four types this character can unlock. The selected one is circled.
- 4The materials required for the selected type, next to what you own.
- 5The unlock button, greyed out while a material is missing. Once the type is unlocked, it activates it.

2Forging Insight
The cost is the same for every type; only the Forging Insight changes: you need the one for the type you want. You get it by dismantling a 5★ weapon of that type.
In the Armoury, on the character: the Weapon Proficiency wheel shows the two default types and a third slot, “Additional Proficiency”.
